BUDDY WILLIAMS RACING ROUND 2 RACE REPORT
After a dominating first round in the WORCS Series where Buddy Williams won all 3 classes, the competition was eager to keep him from building an early season points advantage. Buddy went out in round 2 in Stateline Nevada, and proved round 1 was no fluke. In Saturday mornings 70cc Production class, Buddy won by a huge margin, running 1 full lap more than any other entry. His Fox Shox/Atvfourplay suspended DRR was able to run at a remarkable pace in the rough 5.2 mile desert course.Saturday's afternoon 8-15 Sport class had 18 entrys, and the course was in terrible condition after hundreds of racers ran it throughout the day. Buddys TA Porting powered DRR got him out front, leading the pack into the desert. Buddy was overtaken in the desert, and fell back about 30 seconds. But with one lap to go he went on a charge and caught up to the leader in the desert. Buddy was pushing hard attempting a pass, and had a crash in the desert. He quickly remounted and restarted his quad and continued on to finish second.
Sunday Mornings 70cc Open class had Buddy out front again, leading for 20 minutes before getting stuck in a giant rut. He was able to free his bike, but had fallen back to 3rd position. He had 10 minutes to catch the leaders, and ran the fastest lap of the race with two to go. He stated after the race " I knew i was running out of time, so i ran a full lap, and never used my brakes!" Buddys hard charge payed off, as he caught the second place rider in the next to last lap, and then passed the leader on the last lap for the win.
The 1-1-2 finishes, puts Buddy in the points lead for all 3 of his classes. Next up will be the annual spring break race in Lake Havasu City, AZ on March 19-21.
